The Studentship is a scholarship intended to be a means of financial support to allow full-time research students to fully focus on their studies. It shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit. The period of the Studentship is decided by the Department according to the student’s ability, academic background, or experience. The current Studentship carries a stipend of *HK$18,100 per month. Hong Kong Ph.D. Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS)

Top-calibre applicants can consider applying for the prestigious Ph.D. fellowship offered by the Research Grants Council (RGC). The fellowship aims at attracting the best and brightest students in the world to pursue Ph.D. studies in Hong Kong. It offers an attractive package of a monthly stipend of HK$26,800 and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (approximately US$1,300) per year for each awardee for a period of three years. As competition is extremely fierce, you must have an excellent academic record, research potential, communication, and leadership skills in order to be considered for nomination. Applicants who have applied for the HKPFS will be automatically considered for the award of University Postgraduate Fellowship (UPF) from HKPU. The deadline for submitting an application to RGC and HKPU is 30 November. Please contact me well before the closing deadline for the preparation of the application. You will need to submit a solid and sound research plan, research proposal, vision statements, and a short essay, together with the standard application documents in order to be considered for the award. For details, please refer to https://cerg1.ugc.edu.hk/hkpfs/index.html.
